Three Card Poker Strategy
Three Card Poker is fun, easy to play and understand, making it one of our most popular casino games.
Derived from the English game of 3-Card Brag, Three Card Poker is also known as Tri-Card Poker. Using only one deck, Three Card Poker brings together the strategy of poker with the excitement of jackpot style bonuses. You also have the option to play the dealer or not.
Three Card Poker can be broken down into two bets; the Ante Bet and the Pair Plus Bet.
If you choose to play the Ante Bet, you will compare your cards to the dealers. If you play the Pair Plus Bet you are simply wagering on whether you will have a pair or more. Of course, you may play both options to increase your winnings.
When you play the Ante bet, you will receive three cards which you must decide to fold or play. If you play, your cards will be compared to the dealers and the dealer will need a Queen or more to qualify.
Strategy will come into play for your Ante bet. You should fold if you have a hand lower than Queen, 6 & 4 and you should continue and make the Play bet if your hand is higher. To determine if you should play, compare your highest card to the Queen, if you have a lower card you should fold - a higher card you should play. If you have a Queen, you can compare your next highest card against the 6 and so on.
For the Ante Bet, there is also a special Ante Bonus payout whereby you will be paid a bonus should you turn over a straight, three-of-a-kind or straight flush whether you beat the dealer or not.
The Pair Plus bet is based on your dealt cards only. It does not matter what hand the dealer receives. Simply receive any pair or higher and you will be paid according to the payout table. On average a pair will be dealt to you 25% of the time.
